It is a unique farmhouse, the only one of its kind remaining in its original form. It has not been inhabited since the 1930s, meaning that the interior has remained virtually unchanged. The farm comprises a complex consisting of the farmhouse and a thatched barn on the farmyard, alongside the adjacent Villa Hoogheem.
The farmhouse has now been fully restored, and two luxury holiday homes have been created within it. If you’d like to step back in time, choose ‘De Hude’, in the old living quarters. Fully furnished in the traditional style, yet equipped with all modern conveniences. Or would you prefer the contemporary Ruiterstok guesthouse? Stylishly and modernly furnished, with many original features on display, and offering plenty of luxury and comfort.
Both guesthouses have their own entrance and private terrace, and there is ample parking in the rear garden. Both properties are non-smoking. Enjoy the large garden with its orchard and picnic tables.
Hude
Hude Guest House is situated in the old residential part of the farm. ‘Hude’ refers to a hidden hiding place for valuables; in this case, it was concealed because the little door had been covered with wallpaper, just like the rest of the wall. According to K. ter Laan’s 1929 Groningen dictionary, people would also say: ‘ik heb nòg n udertje’ or ‘hai zel nog wel n udertje achter het linnen hebben’, meaning that someone still had some money set aside.
Guesthouse Hude is suitable for up to 3-4 adults and up to 5 people in total. The bedroom with extra large luxury double box spring is located in the upstairs room, accessible via a short staircase. In addition, there is a box bed (1.37 by 2 m) for 1-2 adults in the living room and 3 more box beds suitable for smaller children (length of the box beds varies between 1.59 and 1.72 metres). The box beds are divided between the bedroom and the living room. This guest house is not wheelchair-accessible. The accommodation has plenty of luxury and comfort, from underfloor heating and free wifi to a bathroom with free-standing bath and rain shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large fridge/freezer, dual-cook oven (with two temperature zones), microwave, Bora induction hob and dishwasher. There is also a filter coffee machine, a Senseo coffee machine and a kettle. The guest house is non-smoking.
Ruiterstok
Ruiterstok guesthouse is situated next to Hude guesthouse at the front of the farm. The entrance is by the old barn doors in the front façade. The name ‘Ruiterstok’ refers to the enormous pile of riding poles that used to be stored where the spacious kitchen now stands. Riding poles were traditionally used in the fields to prop up hay for drying.
The Ruiterstok guest house has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to five adults. The property offers a high level of luxury and comfort, from underfloor heating and free Wi-Fi to a bathroom with a freestanding bath and rain shower. This guesthouse is wheelchair-accessible and features one bedroom with a luxury double box-spring bed and a bathroom on the ground floor. The second bedroom, featuring an extra-large luxury double box-spring bed and a single box-spring bed, is located on the first floor. The kitchen is fully equipped and features a large cooking island, a large fridge-freezer, a dual-cook oven (with two temperature zones), a microwave, a Bora induction hob and a dishwasher. There is also a filter coffee maker, a Senseo machine and a kettle. The guest house is non-smoking.
