Take a closer look

In a beautiful spot in the open landscape of Oldambt in the east of the province of Groningen stands a farm dating from 1771 of the oldest Oldambtster type. It is a unique farm, the only remaining farm of this type in its original form. It has not been inhabited since the 1930s, leaving the interior virtually unchanged. The farm consists of an ensemble of farmhouse and barn on the farmyard with the adjacent villa Hoogheem.

Since then, the farm has been fully restored and two luxury holiday homes have been created in the farmhouse. If you want to go back in time, choose the Hude, in the old living area. Fully furnished in old style and yet with all modern conveniences. Or would you prefer the contemporary guesthouse Ruiterstok? Stylish and modern with many old elements in sight and with plenty of luxury and comfort.

Both guesthouses have their own entrance and terrace, and there is ample parking in the backyard. Both lodgings are non-smoking. Enjoy the large garden with an orchard and picnic tables.

Hude

Guesthouse Hude is located in the old living area of the farmhouse. Hude refers to a hidden storage place for valuables, in this case not visible because the door was wallpapered like the rest of the wall. According to K. ter Laan's 1929 Groninger dictionary, it was also said: 'ik heb nòg n udertje' or 'hai zel nog n udertje achter het linnen hebben', meaning that someone still had some money in reserve.

Guesthouse Hude is suitable for up to 3-4 adults and up to 5 people in total. The bedroom with extra large luxury double box spring is located in the upstairs room, accessible via a short staircase. In addition, there is a box bed (1.37 by 2 m) for 1-2 adults in the living room and 3 more box beds suitable for smaller children (length of the box beds varies between 1.59 and 1.72 metres). The box beds are divided between the bedroom and the living room. This guest house is not wheelchair-accessible. The accommodation has plenty of luxury and comfort, from underfloor heating and free wifi to a bathroom with free-standing bath and rain shower. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large fridge/freezer, dual-cook oven (with two temperature zones), microwave, Bora induction hob and dishwasher. There is also a filter coffee machine, a Senseo coffee machine and a kettle. The guest house is non-smoking.

Rider stick

Guesthouse Ruiterstok is located next to guesthouse Hude at the front of the farmhouse. The entrance is at the old track doors in the front facade. The name Ruiterstok refers to the huge pile of riding sticks that was stored where the spacious kitchen is now. Ruiterstokken used to be used in the fields to lay hay on for drying.

Guesthouse Ruiterstok has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to 5 adults. It has plenty of luxury and comfort, from underfloor heating and free wifi to a bathroom with freestanding bath and rain shower. This guest house is wheelchair-friendly and has one bedroom with luxury double box spring and a bathroom on the ground floor. The second bedroom with extra large luxury double box spring and a single box spring is on the first floor. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large cooking island, a large fridge/freezer, dual-cook oven (with two temperature zones), microwave, Bora induction hob and dishwasher. There is also a filter coffee machine, a Senseo coffee machine and a kettle. The guest house is non-smoking.

Come and enjoy the wide views and beautiful vistas too. Discover roe deer and pheasants or wrens, wagtails, kingfishers and goldcrests. Or go stargazing in this place where it is still really dark at night.
