The Market Hotel, with its 123 luxury rooms and a full range of facilities, really does have something for everyone! Nowhere in Groningen is the location more beautiful or more central than the Grote Markt. Here, you can soak up the city’s history. On the ground floor is Café Willem Albert, with a high-end bar and terrace where you can enjoy a delicious meal or a drink. Café Willem Albert is Groningen’s very own living room, where everyone feels at home. With our extensive, accessible menu, we aim to cater to everyone and restore recognition and appreciation for ‘Dutch Cuisine’. To this end, we use local produce and ingredients grown in the Netherlands as much as possible. The ground floor is also home to the artisan bakery, Bakkerij Westers, where you can enjoy delicious coffee, sandwiches (to take away) and luxury pastries.
The hotel has three modern meeting rooms with a total floor area of 160 m². The largest room, Hereplein (80 m²), is situated on the second floor; as the space spans two storeys, it has a beautifully spacious feel. On the fourth floor are two adjoining boardrooms: the Grote Markt (55 m²) and the Nieuw Markt (25 m²). An inspiring location where the industrial magnate Willem Albert Scholten once lived, right at the foot of the city’s beating heart.
Unwind at Wellcome Wellness. The wellness centre features a gym, a sauna and a Turkish steam bath. In the two treatment rooms, you can enjoy a relaxing massage. It’s the perfect place to round off a busy day or get it off to a good start.
The Market Hotel is an all-electric and completely gas-free hotel. We place great emphasis on sustainability and corporate social responsibility, which has also earned us the Golden Grey Key award, of which we are very proud.
