Stadspark
stadspark is a large park, on the south-west side of the city of Groningen.

It was built at the beginning of the 20th century at the initiative of Groningen industrialist Jan Evert Scholten (1849-1918). The construction of the park took some 13 years, after which it was officially opened in 1926. As a tribute, a monument to Scholten was placed in 1931 on Concourslaan, a prominent spot in the park The park is laid out in English landscape style is made up of different parts. These include a petting zoo, a large trotting track where horse races are still organised and it is an excellent place for a stroll. If you want to stay nearby, you can visit Camping Stadspark. During the summer months, Stadspark also hosts regular events.
