Landmark noordentree Zernike
When you enter the Zernike Campus via the north entrance from the Reitdiep neighbourhood, the imposing artwork in the central reservation of Prof. Uilkensweg immediately catches your eye. There is a special idea behind the artwork.
This impressive eye-catcher marks the northern entrance to the Zernike Campus Groningen. The aim of the artwork is to make the dynamism of the Campus even more visible. Designed by 3DXL, it takes the form of a staircase that grows organically out of the landscape. The landmark thus symbolises the innovation, movement and growth that Zernike has to offer. As a visitor, you immediately realise that you are on a vibrant campus. During the installation of the artwork, care was taken to preserve the existing trees and plants, meaning no greenery had to be removed and the artwork blends even more beautifully into the landscape. It’s well worth seeing for yourself.
