Palingrokerij Postma is the go-to fish shop in Zoutkamp. Here you can buy delicious fish or enjoy a tasty fish dish on the spot.
Zoutkamp used to have a large fishing harbour, but when the Lauwerszee was closed off, it lost this important status. The village has retained the charm and atmosphere of an old-fashioned fishing village, and the inner harbour is still in frequent use. Gille and Alma Postma’s eel smokehouse has been based in this harbour for many years. As well as eel, this shop stocks all manner of other types of (smoked) fish, such as smoked mackerel, red gurnard, haddock, plaice, salmon, mussels, herring and unpeeled prawns. You can also enjoy delicious fish and chips here, which you can tuck into in the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the harbour. All the eels are caught and smoked in Zoutkamp. The smokehouse is located in the distinctive coloured cottages in the harbour. It’s also possible to book a guided tour here by appointment. At Palingrokerij Postma , you can buy fish that tastes just like it used to.
