Palingrokerij Postma is the fish shop in Zoutkamp. Here you can buy delicious fish or eat it on the spot.
Zoutkamp used to have a large fishing port, but when the Lauwerszee was closed off, it lost this important position. The village has still kept the look and feel of an old-fashioned fishing village, and the inner harbour is also still widely used. Gille and Alma Postma's eel smokehouse has been in this harbour for years. Besides eel, this shop sells all kinds of other (smoked) fish such as smoked mackerel, red gurnard, haddock, plaice, salmon, mussels, herring and unpeeled shrimps. You can also enjoy delicious Fish & Chips in the restaurant or on the terrace overlooking the harbour. The eel is all caught and smoked in Zoutkamp. The smokehouse can be found in the distinctive coloured cottages in the harbour. It is also possible to take a guided tour here by appointment. At Palingrokerij Postma you get fish the way it used to taste.
