Stap inside a green oasis full of stories, colours and special plants! Originating in 1642, Hortus Botanicus Haren offers a world to discover on more than 14 hectares. From the Chinese Ming garden, unique in Europe, to the ecological monument the Laarman Garden and the Hondsrug Garden.

The Hortus Botanicus Haren is the largest and one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Netherlands. With over 14 hectares of gardens, there is plenty for young and old to discover. Among other things, you can find the following unique gardens in Hortus Haren:

- The Hondsrug Garden, which forms part of the “Hondsrug UNESCO Global Geopark”;
- The Celtic Garden: The Celtic Garden is a symbolic nature garden where the circle of trees, the Ogham alphabet and mythological elements combine to create an imaginative, educational and spiritual experience.
Furthermore, you can stroll through the large butterfly and bee garden, among others, and children can also discover the gardens by means of a treasure hunt.
Culture lovers can also indulge themselves in the gardens. The Hortus regularly serves as the backdrop for festivals and other events.
The Hortus' catering facilities include Grand Café "De Plantage". In addition, the Plant Shop and gift shop in the entrance hall can be visited without an entrance fee.
The Hortus is easily accessible by public transport and by car. You can park your car for free opposite the entrance.

From 1 October to 21 March, a reduced rate of: €6.50 for adults, €3.50 for children from 6 to 18 years old. Students with college cards also pay €3.50 during this period.
