In one of the oldest houses in Westernieland you will find Kristin's Kruiderij. Here it's all about herbs, which are grown, dried and processed into products.
Kristin Wijnja has had a fascination with herbs all her life. When she and her husband moved into a farm worker's cottage originally built in 1834 in Wersternieland in 2015, she immediately started planting her own herb garden there. Herbal plants are now all around the house. The herbs are used for fragrant tea, as a tasty seasoning in the kitchen and traditionally processed into various products. Among other things, the herbs are used in soap, herbal ointment and natural care products. Kristin also grows herb plants and border plants with edible flowers or leaves for small-scale sales. Kristin shares her enthusiasm for herbs and natural skincare at various inspiring and practical workshops and lectures. Kristin's Grocery is a one-woman business with a good story.
