Hotel Landgoed Ekenstein has been around since the Eeck family built a manor house and farmhouse on Damsterdiep in 1648.

In 1754, the Alberda's van Ekenstein moved in and the manor house was enlarged and rebuilt in 1870 in neo-Gothic style. The park at the estate was laid out in English landscape style by garden architect Lucas Roodbaard. Some of the hotel rooms are located in the historic manor house.
The authentic knights' hall houses the restaurant. Using the best products, Ekenstein's kitchen creates contemporary culinary surprises for relaxed enjoyment (lunch and dinner).
The monumental Schathoes was once the estate's farm. Now it offers an atmospheric and historical ambience with several rooms ideally suited for parties, receptions, dinners or conferences.
The hotel closed in 2024 due to reinforcement measures and is expected to reopen from 2025.
