Museums for enthusiasts
There are plenty of these in Midden-Groningen. Often they are founded by collectors, like het Brandweermuseum or the Skating Museum. And you will find enthusiastic volunteers, such as the bus drivers at the Bus Museum or the blacksmith at the Historic Shipyard, who are happy to tell you about their passion.
Nationaal Bus Museum | Buses of yesteryear
Hoogezand - In the old days, you didn't just take the bus, you went 'mit Gado noar stad' or with one of those other bus companies like the ESA and the DAM. The Nationaal Bus Museum in Hoogezand has them all neatly lined up: the buses of yesteryear. You'll find a special collection of autobuses and various coaches from vervlogen tijden, and even a prison bus. The tickets, cutters, ties, caps and uniforms cannot be missed, of course. Hop on.

Kolham - As a 12-year-old, Chris Scholtens was given pamphlets that were strewn over eastern Groningen in 1939. They formed the beginning of a collection that now includes hundreds of items about World War II, from large to small. At Museum '40-'45 in Kolham, you will find books, letters, documents, enamel signs, newspapers, vehicle parts, military outfits, ammunition, paintings, staff maps and scale models of warships.
