Discover the Zuidlaardermeer
On the border of Groningen and Drenthe lies the Zuidlaardermeer. A favourite with nature lovers, sun worshippers and sports enthusiasts. There is plenty to do in and around this lake. Lounge on one of the waterside terraces, spend the night in a luxury cottage or grab a boat and take to the water. You might even spot a beaver.
Marina and water sports shop

Luxury camping
Right next to the beach you will find Camping Meerwijck. This cosy and well-kept family campsite has, among other things, a marina, a swimming pool and an animation team for children. Owner Petry de Vries says: "At our campsite, you will find chalets, tiny houses, safari tents and the Coco Lodge, where you can camp western style." The campsite is in the middle of the forest, so you can cycle straight into nature. In the adjacent polders, you can see Scottish Highlanders, konik horses and unusual birds. Or visit the city of Groningen or Zuidlaren.

In search of the beaver
There are great views over the lake from Paviljoen De Leine. It is a great starting point for cycling or boating. Nature lovers can also have a great time here. "From our jetty, round trips depart in search of beaver tracks. The beaver feels completely at home here, there is even a lodge right opposite our pavilion!", says Carin Jorritsma of the pavilion.

Lounging
An evening of lounging or fine dining on the terrace is possible at Beachclub Vifero on Meerwijck beach. "With your feet in the sand and a cocktail in your hand, you can have a great time here," explains manager Rachelle Veeger. "Our staff do everything they can to make it a party aan tafel." You can visit Vifero's restaurant for a good lunch or full meal, as well as the cafeteria for a quick bite or an ice cream. Overlooking the Zuidlaardermeer for the real holiday experience.
