The location itself is fantastic, surrounded by lush greenery. As an ecological care farm, De Mikkelhorst strives for harmony with nature and the surrounding environment. For example, the farm shop sells produce from its own garden and the local region, energy is generated via solar panels on the roof, and people with disabilities or specific support needs work there in a safe workplace.
There’s plenty to do for young and old alike at the petting farm. You can cuddle the furry and feathered farm animals, let off steam in the large playground, and there’s a proper climbing trail around the farm. As you climb your way along it, you’ll learn all about the animals at and around De Mikkelhorst. There’s also a market garden, a tea room, a wood-chopping area and a shop full of local produce.
