From a Park & Ride facility, you can travel to the city in a smart and sustainable way. Hop on a bike or a bus and travel along the water, through the countryside or right across the city to the centre: Go green!

P+R Kardinge: right through the city
During your cycle ride from P+R Kardinge to the city centre, you’ll discover the many faces of Groningen. Starting in the city’s sporting heart, you’ll also come across cultural and architectural gems along the way. Discover, amongst other things, the Amsterdam School style of Bernoulliplein and the art next to Simplon music venue. Of course, a few of the city’s icons are a must-see too; along your route you’ll cycle past the Noorderplantsoen, the Town Hall and d’Olle Grieze, amongst others. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled – you’ll spot so much more along the way.

P+R Haren: along the water’s edge
The second route takes you by bike from the lovely village of Haren to the city. And not via the well-known Rijksstraatweg, but via a lovely back route. Along the water’s edge and partly through green spaces. As you cycle along the winding Hoornsedijk, you’ll pass de Helper, a classic and distinctive windmill. With this mill in your kielzog , you’ll continue your journey. Passing the ‘Gate Tower Clio’ city landmark and the‘Proathoes’artwork, you’ll eventually cycle into the city. Once in the centre, you’ll pass through the Folkingestraat. Reminders of this neighbourhood’s Jewish past are still visible here. The synagogue is the jewel of the street.

P+R Hoogkerk: through nature
The third route takes you from P+R Hoogkerk towards the city. You’ll soon find yourself in the Stadspark, a green space on the outskirts of the city. Cycle through a hedge of trees, cross the first little bridge and look out over the large pond. With a bit of luck, you’ll spot cormorants perched in the neighbouring trees. The Stadspark has plenty to offer: from a botanical garden to a petting farm and large open meadows. And if you feel you’ve earned a break, you can take a seat on the terrace at Ni Hao. Cycle on along Concourslaan, past the old trotting track, and head towards the city centre. A little further on, take a moment to admire the magnificent buildings along the water’s edge. From the green spaces to Groningen’s canals: this route takes you to the city centre in a delightful way.
