Kingsland

On Kings Day, the Stadspark will once again turn into a large festival site during Kingsland. The mainstage will feature well-known artists such as Roxy Dekker, Frenna and Ronnie Flex, but that is just the beginning. Across the site, you will find several stages with music styles like urban, house and hardcore. And for those who fancy a good dose of sing-alongs, there will also be a stage with the worst Dutch hits. Put on your orange outfit and celebrate King's Day dancing in the Stadspark.

Free market

Of course, Kings Day in Groningen is not complete without the free market. Along Ubbo Emmiussingel, Praediniussingel, Ganzevoortsingel and Coehoornsingel, you'll find hundreds of stalls full of second-hand stuff, toys and special finds from 09:00 to 17:00. For children, there will be a special children's free market at Westerhaven, which will also feature music and performances from 10am to 5pm. Perfect for leisurely strolling around and perhaps scoring a nice bargain.

Terrasje speciaal

Prefer to celebrate King's Day not among the crowds on the streets, but sailing through the canals? Then a trip with Terrasje Speciaal is a fun option. During Kings Day, the sailing terrace turns into a party boat sailing through Groningen's canals. With music on board and a drink in your hand, you sail past all the orange conviviality of the city. What makes this cruise special is that you don't have to come with a whole group. In fact, you can book from as little as one person and board at a chosen time slot. The boats are filled with other partygoers, automatically creating a cosy atmosphere. During the approximately one-and-a-half-hour trip, you will enjoy music, views of the city and unlimited beer, soft drinks and wine.

Party on the water

It's not only the streets that are lively during King's Day, the Groningen canals are also buzzing with activity. Various organisations offer boat trips to experience the city from the water. For instance, you can join a boat trip with Boot Groningen and sail along the busy quays with a drink in your hand. Coming with a larger group of friends or colleagues? Then turn to BeDRIJFNAT, where sloops are available for groups of up to sixty people. If you prefer something smaller, the Borrelvloot is a nice option. Also Bootje Speciaal also sails through the city with striking orange sloops during King's Day.

Vismarkt

After a busy King's Night, things continue on the Vismarkt . During the day, the square turns into another big, lively gathering where music and entertainment take centre stage. On the main stage, performances by various artists and DJs follow one another throughout the day. The morning starts festively with a children's disco and a dance battle, after which the stage is slowly taken over by live acts and DJs. The programme will include up-and-coming Dutch pop artist Sabine and ANIQUE, a young artist from Rotterdam, and DJ Nico will spin his sets. In short: on the Vismarkt , there will be music and atmosphere all day to celebrate Koningsdag together.

Local catering

During Koningsdag, it's not just festivals and free markets, but also the streets around the city's pubs. In various places, music sounds and people gather to celebrate Koningsdag together. At De Uurwerker and Pintelier, DJs spin on the square and the area soon turns into one big party. At the Grote Kromme Elleboog, too, you're in the right place: Café Soestdijk has a stage and a great atmosphere all day long. Prefer to sit in the sun with a drink and watch the party from a distance? At Poeleplein and Gedempte Zuiderdiep you will find plenty of terraces where you can sit right in the middle of the crowds. With music in the background and partying people around you, you can really taste the liveliness of the city here.

Koningskopje

Rather dance than drink? At Koningskopje, hip-hop, R&B and afro will be playing all day long - from classics to the latest tracks. The party is organised by Roodkopje, who organise urban parties throughout the year. Relaxed atmosphere, good music and a crowd that really comes to move. The event takes place at the Suikerterrein near Stadslab, one of the coolest places in town and you can tell. The party starts a bit later in the day, which makes it perfect for a morning stroll around the free market.

The street will be car-free and make way for a cosy festival with a stage full of live music and DJs. From jazz and soul to danceable beats, there will be something to do all day.
