Kings night in Groningen

Groningen people know how to celebrate like no other. On Sunday 26 April King's Night bursts into life again and the city buzzes with events and parties. Wondering what you can't miss? We list the highlights for you.

The Heroes of Orange

During King's Night, the Stadspark will once again turn into one big sing-along party during De Helden van Oranje. Expect an evening full of Dutch hits and party acts, with performances by Yves Berendse, Mart Hoogkamer, Jannes and Samuel Welten, among others. Names like Frans Duijts, Mental Theo and Yes-R will also bring a lot of energy to the stage. Not forgetting: Organ Joke. With several stages and a line-up full of well-known artists, this is the place to sing, dance and celebrate King's Night big time together.

Vision King's Night

This year, in Simplon , VISION returns to where it all began. During Vision King's Night, you will dive into a night of progressive bass, with a line-up including Mefjus, Thys, nitepunk and Neonlight. Expect a mix of rock-hard drum & bass, experimental sounds and local energy, brought to you by artists who all push the boundaries of the genre. One thing is for sure: this will be an intense night you won't soon forget.

Happy Feelings

During King's Night, Happy Feelings will be back at the Graanfabriek for their legendary King's Night festival. On Sunday 26 April, you can party to house, trance and party beats from early evening until deep into the night, with sets by artists such as Baron Von Trax, Carlos Willengton, Helena Lauwaert, Julia van Praag, S3ppa and more providing the typical Happy Feelings vibe. After selling out for several years, they are packing even bigger in 2026 with extra energy and music, making this one of the most enjoyable stops on King's Night in Groningen.

Paradigm

Paradigm remains a household name in the Groningen dance scene. And on Koningsnacht, this place serves up another special night for lovers of electronic music. Paradigm organises King's Night with Chris Stussy in the Zeefgebouw, an intense underground party full of deep bass and club sounds, with artists who, together with CLUB NO WIFI, guarantee a real rave experience. In Paradigm's raw, industrial setting, the love for electronic music comes into its own. A unique form of dancing together that you can only really experience here.

Afrobeats Wijck

During King's Night in Wijck you can let loose at the Afrobeats Kingsnight Edition. Expect an evening of hot afrobeats, amapiano, dancehall and other danceable sounds, guaranteed to fill the dance floor. Afrobeats events are known for their energetic atmosphere and international vibes, and this King's Night Edition promises to be another party that goes on late into the night. Perfect for those who want to celebrate King's Night with tropical beats instead of standard party music.

Uurwerker

During Koningsnacht, you can also go to De Uurwerker on the Uurwerkersplein for a cosy and relaxed start to your evening. The square is filled with DJ sets, tasty drinks and a relaxed party vibe, perfect for getting into the orange mood with friends during the evening. Here it's not just about dancing, but mainly about having drinks together and enjoying the live music while sipping a refreshing cocktail or beer. It is an informal and lively spot in the city centre where you can easily drop by in between other parties.

Vismarkt

During King's Night, the Vismarkt will once again be the setting for an evening of live music and DJs on the Orange Society's main stage. The programme will start with DJ Julian Bos and MC Bart, who will provide an energetic start to the evening. This is followed by performances by Van Geeft 'M 2.0 and others, and later in the evening Club NU takes over with recognisable party music. With this varied programme, the Vismarkt remains one of the places to celebrate Koningsnacht in Groningen this year too.

Local catering

Besides all the parties, there is also plenty to do at the local bars and restaurants in the city. In Groningen, you can go from one café to another and party until the sun rises. For example, celebrate King's Night at FIXY with DJs from the neighbourhood. Or check out Europe's largest café, De Drie Gezusters, where you will enjoy music, partying and the cosy terrace on the Grote Markt. Peperstraat and Poeleplein will also be busy. Get carried away by the fun and stap into that one pub. From cosy pubs to lively clubs, Groningen has something for everyone.

King's Day

After Kings Night, the party in Groningen is far from over. During King's Day, the city turns orange from early morning to late evening and the atmosphere is festive everywhere. Stroll through the city centre free markets in search of unusual second-hand finds, while bands and DJs provide music on every street corner. The party continues at various squares and pop-up stages, and there is also plenty of entertainment for children with games, workshops and performances. In short, the city is all about party and there is plenty to do all day long.
