Discover what you’ve got: Ezinge

Ezinge is sometimes referred to as the ‘Pompeii of the North’, and with good reason. The village is internationally renowned for the excavations of farmsteads dating from 600 BC to the fifth century AD. When you visit Ezinge, you’ll see that the village is situated on a raised hill. This hill, known as a ‘wierde’, was originally constructed by people to protect their homes from flooding. From the beautiful Torenkerk, which stands on this ‘wierde’, you have a magnificent view over the Middag-Humsterland National Landscape.

Please note that the campaign images in Ezinge were taken on the grounds of IJsvereniging Ezinge. If you are going to Ezinge yourself, please make sure you do not walk on these grounds.
