Nature reserve 't Roegwold, with an area of some 1,700 hectares, is a beautiful piece of nature. The area, which runs from Kolham past Slochteren and Schildwolde to the Schildmeer, has been redesigned with the aim of boosting nature and increasing biodiversity. The landscape of 't Roegwold is a mix of water, wetlands, reed beds, grasslands and forests. This diverse landscape makes it a perfect home for many plant and animal species. Bird lovers, for example, can indulge themselves here, as you can regularly spot rare birds in 't Roegwold. The nature reserve is easy to explore along the cycling and walking paths or walk the unique Knuppelpad, a wooden plank path that leads you through the marsh.

In the heart of 't Roegwold lies Natuurkampeerterrein Wildemansheerd in Schildwolde. Hidden in the greenery, you will find a campsite that would probably go unnoticed without the presence of tents. Between the fruit trees and colourful flower meadows, you can rent a spot to pitch your tent, caravan or motorhome. For those who prefer more comfort or do not own their own tent, the site also offers hiker's huts and a cosy chalet. And the best part? From the campsite you are directly in the nature reserve, ready to explore the area on foot or by bike.

Hit a ball and enjoy the grand nature on the edge of nature reserve 't Roegwold at De Groningse Golfclub Duurswold. With a challenging 9-hole course, you can spend a day here. The golf club also considers it important that both beginners and advanced golfers can enjoy themselves here. But do not expect your average game of golf; the cleverly placed obstacles and surprising height differences will take your game to a higher level.
