Want more action? Then grab a mountain bike. Westerwolde's mountain bike network counts more than 200 kilometres and is among the longest in the Netherlands. The network consists of 5 individual MTB routes that are interconnected. Thus, you cycle alternately through the old woods of Smeerling and then through a small-scale arable landscape.

Add fresh air and green surroundings and you have the recipe for the ultimate leisure activity that will get you nice and fit. The routes in Westerwolde are all varied. Sometimes you'll find yourself on a technical course through woods and sand hills, racing past heathland and fens or canals, and then suddenly pedalling through meadows and fields. At the above starting points, you will find a catering facility where you can eat and drink something and use the toilet. At Restaurant De Ruiten Aa and Camping Wedderbergen, you can also use a shower(Camping Wedderbergen during the camping season). At the Pagedal you can use the changing room and shower, at a charge of €2.50 p.p.
