Wadapartja simply stands for: ‘How very special.’ This is what any Groningen resident would say if they walk in somewhere or see something out of the ordinary or something special. And we are! At Wadapartja you can shop, eat and drink during the day and evening. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, homemade sweets and nice snacks & appetizers. One of the typical things about us, everything is for sale. We have a store, but also the tables, lamps, spoons and even the art on the walls is for sale! We find it important that you know what you eat. That’s why we use ‘Beter Leven *’ chicken and eggs, local Porc d’or pork and beef fromout the provence. We also work with a quite some local suppliers, like our Bax beers, biodynamic vegetables from ‘Eemstuin’, specialty coffee from Koffiestation and sustainable bread from our local baker Luuk. Locally is not so far away! Wadapartja is the place where people come together, are inspired by the experience and everyone is included in their very own way. Everyone is more than welcome! 

The News café is the most diverse and centrally located establishment in Groningen city centre. The Grand café, surrounded with outdoor cafés in summer, is the best meeting place in the city, and this is the address for a delicious espresso, latte or cappuccino. They have an extensive lunch menu and cocktails and other drinks to enjoy in the relaxed atmosphere in the evening. On the first floor is the restaurant with an international menu and our club is located in the former fallout shelter. We also have various rooms for business guests and people who want to throw a party.  

The Grand Café Groningen is located at the Gedempte Zuiderdiep 56 in a stunning 19thcentury building that was once owned by the Steenkolen Handels Vereeniging (coal trading association). Where possible, we use regional and sustainable products, ecological if possible and low in food miles, which is better for people and the environment, and for our beautiful province. We are open 7 days a week for a delicious cup of coffee with homemade cake, a lovely lunch, a high tea, a good glass of wine or a delicious meal.
