Tips for the spring half-term

At the end of February it's spring break again! That means: time to go out. There are plenty of fun things to do in Groningen. Whether you feel like something creative, active or quiet, there is something for everyone. We have listed the best activities for you.

Workshop Dutch Sign Language

21 February - Good afternoon, sorry, thank you: these are words we know in many languages, but do you know how to say them in sign language? The Forum is organising a workshop this spring break. Children aged 9 and over can learn Dutch sign language here. Come along and learn about the different forms of hearing impairment. You will also experience for yourself what it is like to be hard of hearing and get acquainted with sign language in an interactive way.

Indoor arcade Nienoord

Daily - Fancy an active day? Drop by the indoor arcade at Nienoord. This arcade includes a large monkey cage, a go-kart track and several trampolines. Depending on the weather conditions, you can also play outside on the playground equipment and visit the children's farm. Children up to 2 years old have free access.

LEGiO-museum

Daily - 'Look, build, play' The LEGiO-museum in Grootegast is a museum where you can admire various works of art made entirely from LEGO. The museum was created thanks to residents and collectors from the village of Grootegast, who all contributed their bit. So children can also get to work with LEGO themselves, to build something beautiful themselves.

MuzeeAquarium

21 February to 1 March - During the spring holidays, it's one big adventure at the MuzeeAquarium. Go tinkering, sleuthing and playing and watch the fish being fed on Tuesdays and Fridays to experience marine life up close. On Saturday 21 February, the fire brigade will provide an extra spectacle with an impressive demonstration. Come along and find out for yourself.

Build your own wooden robot

26 February - Building your own robot is possible at the Cultuurhuis De Klinker. This spring break, you can take a workshop with carpenter Tom. You will learn all about how a robot is put together, with lots of inspiration. Use real tools and bring your robot to life.

Adventurepark Waddenfun

Daily - If you're not afraid of heights, then you should drop by indoor climbing park Waddenfun. The park is suitable for young and old, from the age of 4 you can climb and clamber here. There is something for everyone, including three different height levels and more than 300 metres of ziplines. Do you dare the highest level?

Super Mario 40 years

T/m 17 May - The Italian plumber from the games: Super Mario. Who doesn't know him? Mario celebrates his 40thbirthday at the Forum, with an exhibition where you learn all about the character. In Storyworld Spotlight, you can find the whole story about this hero. From the first game with Super Mario to the process of his iconic appearance, you will find everything in this exhibition.

Making nesting boxes and insect hotels

25 February - Give birds and insects a helping hand for spring? At Reitdiep visitor centre, you can spend an afternoon crafting a nesting box or insect hotel. Afterwards, take your creation home to hang up, so you can have a fun and creative afternoon and help the animals at the same time.

Circus Bossle

21 February to 1 March - In the spring holidays, Dinopark Tenaxx transforms into a real circus terrain for a while, with Circus Bossle putting on shows featuring various performers, spectacular light shows and impressive circus acts. A show you won't want to miss. After the show, you can continue your adventure and search for dinos.

Mega indoor bouncy castle festival

22-25 February - Experience bouncy castle paradise this spring break in Martiniplaza. Children can jump around on no less than 6,000 square metres. This includes not only bouncy castles, but also a rodeo bull and various football games. Parents and children up to 2 years old have free access.

Zoo DoeZoo

Daily - A blue-yellow macaw, a spurred tortoise and an emu. You will find these animals all at DoeZoo in Leens. This zoo has different types of animals and insects. You can see them all up close, and touch some of them too. During the free guided tour of the park, there is an opportunity to pet an iguana or hold a snake. Do you dare?
