Eating with children

Eating out with children can be quite a challenge. During such a long sit, it is nice for the little ones to have something to play with besides a (healthy) children's menu. Are the kids finished eating? Then they can romp around in the kids' corner while you have another cup of coffee. Because not all restaurants are equally suitable for taking your offspring, we went looking for the places where this is possible. This is the place to be for a successful lunch, snack or dinner for young and old.

Zondag

Kruissingel 1 - Lunch or dinner surrounded by greenery? At Zondag you can unwind after a nice walk through the Noorderplantsoen. And contrary to what the name suggests, you can go there all week long. When the kids have finished their pancakes or vegetable snacks, let them play in the greenery around the restaurant. While enjoying a drink and a snack, you can easily keep an eye on them from behind the glass or sitting on the terrace.

Wadapartja

Pottebakkersrijge 21 - Wadapartja is a well-known and beloved spot among most Groningers. But this is also a good place for children. At the Westerhaven branch, they now have a play corner. So you can enjoy the local dishes and products while your children slide down the slide. The children's menu not only includes tasty things, but also puzzles and and colouring sheets. Enough for a whole afternoon of entertainment.

Cantina Mexicana

Vismarkt 50 - To eat together is to experience together. That's why Cantina Mexicana has a menu for adults as well as one especially for children. Not just a few dishes, but a whole menu. And if the kids do want something from the big people's menu, just adjust the quantity at the restaurant. While you gorge on tacos or enchiladas, the kids build a big Lego castle in the special kids' corner. Or they play in the kids' kitchenette: they can practise for later!

Het Oude Politiebureau

Sawmuldersweg 3 - At the atmospheric Stadsrestaurant Het Oude Politiebureau, you can have a cosy meal with your kids. There is a menu especially for the little rascals and for the very little rascals. Sustainability, local and social are key here. And you taste flavours from all over the world with local products. Also nice: at Het Oude Politiebureau, they think everyone should be able to eat out, so they keep prices low.

't Gouden Appeltje

Appingedam - Marije (12 years old), when she moved to the Gouden Pand 1 in Appingedam, came up with the idea that they could start selling coffee, tea and apple pie. She also immediately came up with a fitting name: 't Gouden Appeltje. A super cute idea, which the whole family embraced. The ground floor of 'Het Gouden Pand' was furnished and transformed into a cosy coffee café by Margriet, Marije's mother.

Bistro Landing

Onnen - The bistro at Camping De Kleine Wereld is a veritable Walhalla for you and your children. The most delicious dishes are prepared using honest and mostly local products. And for the little ones, there is an extensive children's menu. While you enjoy all that deliciousness, your children are guaranteed to have fun. Outside is a beautiful natural playground with a large terrace and inside is a children's playroom. Those who like a game can choose something from the cupboard or get started on the boules court. Activities are also often organised, such as roasting marshmallows over a campfire. Here you will be busy for a while.

Cosis Ons Hertenkamp

Harkstede - In the tea house at Cosis Ons Hertenkamp, the clients of the day care centre are happy to prepare a pot of tea or some lemonade for you. Everyone gets a biscuit to go with it. And for children there is plenty to do. They can pet animals at the petting zoo, play in the playground and many other fun activities are organised.

De Onlanderij

Eelderwolde - A real outdoor kid? Then you've come to the right place at De Onlanderij. The farm has a natural play area where children can clamber over tree trunks, play at the natural water table and dig holes in the sandpit. And in forester Bart's shed, they can admire all kinds of finds. All that playing will of course make you hungry. Join us for pancakes, a sandwich with their favourite toppings and lemonades according to grandma's recipe. Or for a home-made cake with an organic juice from the region.

Garnwerd aan Zee

Garnwerd - At Garnwerd aan Zee, you sit by the water for a bite to eat and a drink. Especially for the little guests, there is a children's menu with everything children like. After dinner, they can let off steam in the large sandpit with toys and a trampoline. And when they are a bit older, they can take a dip in the Reitdiep in nice weather.

Restaurant Het Booze Wijf

Lauwersoog - At Restaurant Het Booze wijf, there is plenty of entertainment for the kids. Outside is a trampoline and you can climb in the climbing frame. The menu has plenty of choice for the little ones. Bad weather? There is also entertainment inside. Inside at the Booze Wife, children can play extensively in the beautiful climbing paradise with ball pit.

Kade Z

Zuidhorn - At Kade Z, you can carefree enjoy a nice cup of coffee while your children are playing. This is because the playground of up to 450 square metres is enclosed by a fence for safety. Kade Z offers people with mental disabilities a valuable, valued and appropriate daytime activity. Under supervision, they enjoy working with you.
