Zwanestraat and Kromme Elleboog
Where students and foodies meet
Clothing shops and other retail outlets on Zwanestraat have a slightly different feel to them. You can enjoy a good cup of coffee on a terrace. For back home, you can buy a piece of cheese and a nice bottle of wine. Are you heading off already, or staying a while longer? Via the Grote and Kleine Kromme Elleboog, you’ll find yourself at the Pintelier beer café and De Uurwerker. Cheers.
Treats: here and to take home
The Zwanestraat and the two Kromme Ellebogen are synonymous with good food. In the morning, the little shops here fill up with young and old alike for a sandwich or a cup of coffee. In the afternoon, the cafés open and the atmosphere here becomes even more convivial. Looking for something to enjoy at home or to give as a gift? At De Kaaskop , they sell a huge variety of cheeses, as well as wine, nuts and tapas. For coffee and tea, head to Simon Lévelt on the corner of the street. Fancy a bite to eat? Then you’ve been able to pop into the Ugly Duck for over 30 years.
Something different
For a long time, Zwanestraat was home mainly to the more upmarket shops where you could marvel at exclusive leather goods, clothing and jewellery. Over the years, chic has given way to the quirky. If you love unusual jewellery and beautiful gemstones, head to the unique jewellery shop LiAtelier. You won’t find any run-of-the-mill shops in these streets.
