Shopping outside the city centre
There’s plenty of shopping to be had outside Groningen city centre too. For example, in less than half an hour by bike, you’ll find yourself in the charming shopping centre in Haren. Is it raining? Then the covered Paddepoel is the perfect solution. In short, hop on your bike and go for a spot of shopping outside the city.

Haren
Less than half an hour’s cycle ride from the city, you’ll find the many shops of Haren. Most are situated on the well-known Rijksstraatweg or in the cosy streets surrounding it. From trendy clothes shops to interior design boutiques: every shopper will find something to their liking in Haren. With fashion shops such as SOOLOO, Molenkamp and Robert, there’s something to suit every budget. And when you’ve finished shopping or just fancy a break, take a seat at one of the many lovely outdoor cafés. Or enjoy an ice cream from Italini at the foot of the Nicolaaskerk.

Helpman also has plenty of lovely little spots where you can enjoy an ice cream or have a leisurely lunch or dinner.

And you can park your car for free for the first hour and a half, so you’ve plenty of time to enjoy a spot of shopping.

Just outside the centre of Groningen, you’ll find the Woonboulevard Groningen. It’s only a 10-minute cycle from the centre. Coming by car? You can park for free. Stroll around the boulevard and be inspired by the kitchen, bathroom and interior design shops on the Hoendiep. You can also pop into the charity shop for second-hand items. Settle down in a café for a cup of coffee or lunch. And afterwards, carry on shopping in one of the 60 home furnishing shops.
