Hoogezand - "When the sun shines, it shines all day on our terrace" The enthusiastic Jeroen van der Meijs has been the manager of Kielzog Grand Café in Hoogezand since 2021. As far as he is concerned, the café is everyone's living room. We are at a central point. After shopping or a visit to the library, you can have lunch or a drink with us, inside or on the terrace. Relaxing in the sun and people-watching, what more could you want. And thanks to the fountain, it's great fun for children too.

Paviljoen De Leine | Magnificent views
Kropswolde - You also have a great view over the water from paviljoen De Leine on the Zuidlaardermeer. "From here you can cycle beautiful routes or go boating" tell Carin Jorritsma and Luit Wieringa who run the extensive establishment. You can go there for lunch and dinner, but also just for a drink. Even if it rains you can sit there, as part of the terrace is covered. "For nature lovers, this is a wonderful place. The beaver feels completely at home here, there is even a lodge right opposite our pavilion!"

En route to Kaap Steendam | Really tasty
Steendam - On the other side of Midden-Groningen you will find the terrace of Op weg naar Kaap Steendam. Hostess Janet van Ommen: "We started in corona time so first plunged into takeaway and delivery. Now we can finally serve our dishes on the terrace." The menu is very varied, from the familiar satay or burger to guinea fowl or tasty asparagus. Many local products are served, such as pastries from Zoet en Hartig from Siddeburen or strawberries and asparagus from Meinardi. "The reactions are very positive, also because the dishes look so nice. And the taste is very good, even of the simple things. I regularly hear that people have never eaten such delicious chips before."

Various locations - Are you walking or cycling through the Midden-Groningen region? Then stop at one of the eight resting points. At these points, you can enjoy a lovely break. You will find them in beautiful, 'green' places such as at the NME petting zoo in Hoogezand, at nature campsite Wildemansheerd in Schildwolde or in the beautiful bamboo garden at 'Romala's home' in Kiel-Windeweer.
