Discover Oldambt
Out and about with the new magazine
Back to the end of the 19th century. All around you, vast fields of grain. On the fertile clay soils stood farmhouses as grand as castles, with large barns behind them. Oldambt was the granary of Europe. It was the era of De Graanrepubliek’. The swaying gold led to fabulously wealthy farmers, local communism and enormous red-brick factories. The flame died down, but the fire of De Graanrepubliek ’ continued to smoulder. Nowadays, this region is once again bustling with sowing, brewing and distilling. Add to that Oldambtmeer, its location within the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site and the wealth of events on offer, and you have an area that is definitely well worth a visit. There is so much to discover here. And the best way to do that is with the new magazine.
