Huninga's Heem

In the second half of the nineteenth century, gentleman farmers in the Hoogeland and Oldambt regions experienced a heyday. They built impressive farms that looked like castles, and beautiful English gardens could also be found. These so-called 'garland gardens' are real calling cards, with winding paths, beautiful scenery, ponds and graceful bridges. Although many of these show gardens have disappeared, the winding garden at Van Huninga's Heem has been restored to its former glory. The historic farmhouse has also been partly renovated. The original dwelling house is now a cosy eatery. A pitch & putt course can be found between the garden and the Oldambtmeer.
