Oostwold – Go to Oostwold airport where you’ll find the Heritage Hangar, a small-scale museum with various historic planes and vehicles on display. Most of them date from WWII. With its three flying ‘war birds’, this museum’s permanent collection is nothing short of spectacular. This is actually the only museum in the Netherlands to have all three war birds in its collection.

Heiligerlee – The Van Bergen family started their bell foundry in 1795. They initially concentrated on founding church tower bells, but after WWII broke out, they shifted their focus to the production of fire-hoses. After yet another shift in focus, the old factory building now houses the bell-founding museum. Their collection features some very special specimens.
