Oldambt
From milkman to queen: everyone grew up on Brinta made from Groningen grain. In Oldambt, the waving gold led to stony farmers, local communism and huge red-brick factories. The flame went out, but the fire of de Graanrepubliek continued to smoulder. Anno now, the region is once again full of sowing, growing, malting, brewing, baking and distilling. Add the Oldambtmeer and the large number of events and you have an area that is definitely worth a visit.
