Borgerswold
Borgerswold is a park located on the outskirts of Veendam. The park has no less than 450 hectares of surface area and is very water- and forest-rich. The extensive recreation area is located in the middle of nature, but within walking distance from the centre of Veendam. Besides a challenging mountain bike route, Borgerswold has much more to offer for outdoor enthusiasts. You can swim, water sports, fish, play golf and even ride horses here. But it is also great for walking, letting loose in the playground or chilling out on a rug. You won't get bored here any time soon.

Walking
How wonderful it can be to take a short walk. Relax Stap by stap and clear your head. In Borgerswold you can take a nice stroll, but there are also two special walking routes of 5 kilometres each. The Compagniepad runs straight through the southern part of Borgerswold and offers beautiful views of the Veenkoloniale landscape. The other route, Wold & Wotter, leads through the forest and along water lakes.

Exploring Veendam on the pedals. At your own pace, enjoying the beautiful nature and the special sights. There are various routes with which you can discover Veendam and its surroundings by bike. Give your legs a rest in between and plop down on the terrace with a cup of coffee. The region is just big and small enough for fantastic trips.

Mountain biking
Fancy some action? Stap on the pedals and discover the challenging mountain bike routes in Borgerswold. Here you combine sport and nature with speed, bends and exciting technical sections. The 24.5-kilometre course takes you over varied paths where you can keep pedalling.
Looking for more of a challenge? Then choose the 19-kilometre route with narrow, technical singletracks and a spectacular descent on the north side. Most of the trails have been specially constructed for mountain bikers, although you will share some sections with other visitors to the recreation area. An ideal place for anyone who loves outdoor adventure.
