Meet Neil Judkins from the Fysio2Fit physiotherapy and sports centre on Het Aanleg in Winsum. Neil set up in the village six years ago as a sports physiotherapist, driven by his own interest in sport and in supporting athletes with sports injuries. He started out in a 20 m² space and now runs a business covering 1,200 m² with 20 colleagues. “I’ve always been driven, but I never expected us to grow this big in such a short space of time.” He runs the new sports centre together with two other Winsum residents: Ramon Kauw and Rick Schaaphok. “All three of us are highly driven entrepreneurs, each with a different background, and this complements each other brilliantly.”
Easy and safe exercise
Fysio2Fit welcomes people of all ages who want to exercise or need physiotherapy. There is now also a small wellness area where visitors can enjoy a massage or relax in a floating cabin. “People feel at ease with us; we’re very approachable,” says Neil. This approachability is also evident in the eGym section. These are fitness machines that, using a special wristband, are fully tailored to the user’s body and fitness level. “Our eGym helps people exercise easily, enjoyably, effectively and safely – and get fit in just two 30-minute sessions a week!” This approach to exercise is unique in Het Hogeland.

Business activity
Neil grew up in Winsum. He was away for a few years whilst studying but now lives back in this most beautiful of villages. “Winsum is a cosy village with a lovely centre and plenty of sports facilities.” Neil is particularly enthusiastic about the great atmosphere and friendliness. “The buzz in Winsum, with its lovely restaurants and activities, really brings the village to life.”
Growing
Given the wide range of offerings and the technical features, it’s hardly surprising that Neil, Ramon and Rick have set their sights on becoming Het Hogeland’s go-to sports venue. Although Fysio2Fit’s expansion into sports is still in its early stages, they continue to see opportunities for their business. In the future, they want to help even more people work specifically on their physical health and sporting ambitions. “If we keep growing like this, we’ll definitely need a bit more space for that in the future,” Neil concludes with a laugh.
