Meet Petra Hoorn from Mooi-inzicht. You’ll find this cheerful interior design shop on Hoofdstraat Obergum, near the arch bridge. The shop was born out of Petra’s passion for interior styling and advice. It has been open since the summer of 2023.
I thought I’d take the plunge
The idea for the shop had been on Petra’s mind for years. As a self-employed interior designer, she frequently visited private individuals, businesses and shops to offer advice on interior design, shop styling and sales presentation, and the stap towards having her own premises became increasingly feasible. The moment she saw the beautiful shop premises standing empty, she decided to take the plunge. “In the shop, I can welcome my customers and show them the products and materials at the same time.”

Colourful and unique
The shop’s range consists of colourful and unique items. These creations are often made by women, just like the art on display in the shop. “I promote Dutch craftsmanship, and in particular that of women,” says Petra. This is not only appreciated by customers from Winsum and the surrounding area; visitors from across the country are also surprised by the unique range when they step into the shop.
Exciting developments
Looking ahead to the future, there’s still plenty that could happen at Mooi-inzicht. “I’m quite impulsive, so something new regularly comes my way.” There are already some exciting developments in the pipeline for the coming period. Petra talks enthusiastically about the unique cushions and sofa from her own label and a special teepee chair which she is the only one in the Netherlands authorised to sell. “I hope customers leave the shop feeling enthusiastic and inspired, and that the cosy and cheerful atmosphere brings them joy.”
