For eleven days, festival Noorderzon is the highlight of Groningen's cultural summer. Every year in August, a motley collection of stage performers and artists descend on the atmospheric Noorderplantsoen. Noorderzon represents a festive start to the cultural season and a smashing end to the summer holidays.

Performances and food trucks

Almost everyone talks about Noorderzon, but the full name of this festival is actually Noorderzon Festival of Performing Arts & Society. Every year, the festival attracts over 135,000 visitors to the freely accessible Noorderplantsoen. Not only for the performances, but also (and sometimes only) for the unique, casual atmosphere. The normally quiet park is now filled with terraces, food stalls, hundreds of lights and artistic installations. In this exciting place, you will discover something new behind every tree.
