With these e-bike routes, you’ll explore the Groningen of De Ploeg: the surrounding countryside with its vastness, wind and open spaces. And so you suddenly see the Groningen countryside in a completely different light. Through ‘De Ploeg’s eyes’, you’ll see the streaks of wind in the sky, discover the myriad shades of yellow in the ripening grain and fall in love with the idyllic villages with their brick-built churches. LF Coastal Route
Without the dyke, the province of Groningen would have been a lot smaller. Perhaps that is why, standing atop the sea dyke, you can so clearly sense the down-to-earth strength of the people of Groningen. The LF Coastal Route takes you 610 kilometres over, along and behind the Dutch dyke. Around 90 kilometres of the route runs through Groningen, connecting two unique nature reserves: the Lauwersmeer and the Dollard. The views are breathtaking. And let’s just hope the wind’s in your favour.

Welcome to De Wierde
Wierden are scattered throughout the Groningen landscape. Wierden, also called mounds, are man-made hills, which kept people's feet dry during floods. Whoever cycles here therefore regularly goes up and down hills. Cycling along the Groninger wierden is like cycling through an open-air museum: you ride straight through history and marvel at it all the while. Detours cycling routes
Since 2019, the municipality of Groningen has been so much more than just a city. There is plenty to discover in this new municipality, not least when it comes to its rich cultural history. In Gras’s special travel guide, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to set off on a journey of discovery through the new municipality. ‘Omwegen’ features four cycle routes. Around Lauwersmeer
You will find an extensive network of cycle paths in the Lauwersmeer area. In the Ballastplaat forest and the south-western Kollumeroord you can cycle beautifully. Furthermore, the cycle path over the Ezumakeeg is a must, as is the - just outside the National Park - Marnewaard. For the more trained cyclist, the Rondje Lauwersmeer is highly recommended. This route of about 43 kilometres around the Lauwersmeer takes you to the most beautiful spots of the National Park. This route can be downloaded for free.
