We also work with a quite some local suppliers, like our Bax beers, biodynamic vegetables from ‘Eemstuin’, specialty coffee from Koffiestation and sustainable bread from our local baker Luuk. The Grand Café Groningen is located at the Gedempte Zuiderdiep 56 in a stunning 19thcentury building that was once owned by the Steenkolen Handels Vereeniging (coal trading association). Where possible, we use regional and sustainable products, ecological if possible and low in food miles, which is better for people and the environment, and for our beautiful province. We are open 7 days a week for a delicious cup of coffee with homemade cake, a lovely lunch, a high tea, a good glass of wine or a delicious meal. Buckshot Café opened its doors on 15 October 1999. Owners Maarten Burger and Marc Groenewoud run two floors with two bars and two different ambiances. The ground floor has a relaxed atmosphere, where guests see what they are doing and hear what they are saying, while on the first floor you can easily imagine yourself in the 1970s or 1980s. Music is important to us, so we play the latest jazz, soul, funk, jazz dance, nu jazz, lounge, funk, fusion and jazz rock, and every Sunday there is live music on the ground floor stage. We hold Buckshot Specials on a regular basis: special evenings featuring special music. Refer to the concert calender for dates of live music and specials.

Winebar of the Year 2018: Barrel Wijnlokaal lies hidden in the Haddingestraat near the Vismarkt. Barrel has a selection of over 500 wines by the bottle, including some very exclusive bottlings. In addition, every week we open at least 60 wines that can be ordered by the glass and are served with delicious cheeses and sliced cold meats if desired. If you would like to taste our selection of the week, be sure to order a ‘small tasting’ of 4, 6 or 8 half glasses, of course provided with a short explanation. You can also book a private wine tasting at the Barrel Wine Bar. Recently, we opened our Wijnwinkel (wine shop) at Nieuwe Ebbingestraat 23.
