Straight above the roundabout in the main railway station bike parking facility is some sort of snowball. It’s huge and hangs upside down. The ball includes eleven plexiglass plates that resemble the contours of the station building while the LED lighting ensures continuous movement in the ball. The work was designed by Giny Vos, who was inspired by the contrast between the Stadsbalkon (city balcony) and the station building. The modern square provides the monumental station with new elegance while it hides part of the station from view. With Second thought Vos mirrors the station downwards and connects the two constructions below the ground.

Between the school at De Kluiverboom and the Alfa Collega is a work of art called Wereldplek (World place) by Michiel Kluiters, consisting of three large stools that serve as a shelter and each with twelve smaller ones to sit on. The large stools are a wi-fi hotspot, and each of them has its own of four functions: exchanging music, chatting, surfing and reading the latest news. The stools change functions from time to time as a result of which one of the four functions is lost. Pupils have influence on this using a game.

The Briltil marina and campsite is located in the Groningen Westerkwartier, about one kilometre from the village of Zuidhorn, where you will find various shops. A bus or train will take you to the city of Groningen within fifteen minutes. The marina provides lovely and tranquil overnight accommodation on the Lemmer-Delfzijl waterways, just one kilometre from the Van Starkenborghkanaal near Zuidhorn. The Gabrug, which you can operate yourself, provides access to the Hoendiep (about 1.90 m draught), from which you can sail to the marina. The campsite has spacious pitches with electricity and a wonderful view of the harbour.
