Art in Eemsdelta

Eemsdelta has more to offer than meandering waters, vast polders and historic villages. Art lovers have also come to the right place here. The distinctive landscape of the area has inspired many artists, including Henk Helmantel. From classic to contemporary and from small galleries to large exhibitions: this is the art of Eemsdelta.

Museum Helmantel

Museum Helmantel is located next to the Andreaskerk church in Westeremden, in the barn of a former Parsonage. It was built on the foundations of countless ancient Romanesque bricks. The building and exhibition of museum Helmantel are certainly worth a visit. Born and bred in Groningen, fine artist Henk Helmantel always wanted to be a painter.
