Museum Helmantel
Both the building and the exhibition are definitely worth a visit. Next to Andreaskerk in Westeremden, you will find this museum housed in the barn of a former pastorie. Built with thousands of centuries-old monastery stones as foundations. The exhibition features the art of Henk Helmantel, the Groningen-born and raised fine painter. He wanted to be a painter all his life and is now one of the most famous living Dutch painters. Curious about his work? Møhlmann museum
On the outskirts of historical Appingedam, in a national monument from the mid-19th century, is the Møhlmann museum. This independent museum is a platform for contemporary realistic and figurative art, set up by Rob Møhlmann himself. In the garden, you can view beautiful sculptures; walking along the winding paths or sitting down from the coffee room. Galerie Ruigewaert

A 17th-century warehouse in the middle of Appingedam has housed Galerie De Noordelijke Kunsthof for more than 70 years. At the gallery, lovers of contemporary art can indulge themselves.
