Meet Johan van der Beek of Kaas- Notenhuysch Winsum on Hoofdstraat Obergum. Johan stocks more than 150 cheeses from home and abroad; all fresh from the knife. The Winsumer Boogkaas is, of course, the shop's speciality. Besides cheese, as the name of the shop suggests, you can also find the tastiest fresh nuts and regional products here. For example, the delicious home-made mustard soup that customers can enjoy every week.
The northernmost cheese shop in the Netherlands
The Kaas-Notenhuys is the northernmost cheese shop in the Netherlands. And that’s not the only achievement that cheesemaker Johan is proud of. He loves to talk about his appearance on the TV programme *Heel Holland Bakt*. People still come from far and wide to Winsum to see the famous TV baker in person and have their photo taken with – or without – the original HHB shorts. Johan also channels his love of baking into organising the Groninger Poffertdag. This is a competition in which a panel of expert judges selects the best baker of this typical Groningen delicacy.

His shop has an open atmosphere, which means he regularly stops for a quick chat with customers and passers-by.
