Water sports enthusiasts will be in their element at the Schildmeer. As well as a lovely swim, you can also go windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking there. Take a lookSaltwater Bath | Loppersum
In Loppersum, you can take a dip in a unique saltwater pool. This pool was dug out by hand in 1933, and the water is pumped up from a spring 112 metres deep. The sun heats the purified and healthy spring water. With changing cubicles on one side and small dykes on the other, it is an intimate and well-organised swimming pool. The 50-metre pool has a sandy bottom. There is a paddling pool and both deep and shallow areas. Behind one of the embankments lies a lovely recreation area where you can relax or play.
Take a lookPapiermolen | Groningen
If you’re not keen on sand, you can cool off in the (city) swimming pool in Groningen. The Papiermolen, renovated in 2018, is the perfect place to take a refreshing dip. But you can also visit on less sunny days, as the pool is heated then. Do you prefer to swim laps or lie in the sun? With five swimming pools, a water slide, play equipment and a large sunbathing area, there’s something for everyone. Fun fact: during the renovation work, a mural dating back more than sixty years was discovered. It has been restored to its former glory.
