Maalwerk is Delfzijl's independent artisan coffee roastery, focused on roasting quality coffee. The coffee beans are hand-picked, hand-selected, hand-roasted and hand-packed. No mass-produced coffee and large stocks, but freshly roasted coffee that tastes and smells the way it should.
Pure craftsmanship
Owner Erik Poelstra has been a coffee roaster for 22 years. He worked for 20 years at a large coffee roasting company that just grew and grew. The craft and taste of the coffee became less and less important. So in 2018, Erik decided to stap to the small scale of Maalwerk. Here, there is room for attention, for high-quality coffee with a nice full flavour. The coffee is supplied to catering establishments in the region and for sale to consumers through shops and their own website.
Therefore Delfzijl
Erik finds Delfzijl a lovely place to live in nice and quiet, while having all shops and amenities close at hand. A big plus, of course, is the port and the beach. He therefore likes to walk long stretches on the dike along the Dollard. "I think the most special place in Delfzijl is the Biessumerbos. Here you can really clear your head and enjoy the peace and quiet."
