Stand-up paddleboard hire Pieterzijl, Bootverhuur de Lauwers boat hire

Pieterzijl, Lauwerszijl - The Lauwers river, which runs from the village of Stroobos to Zoutkamp, has wonderful options for sailing and stand-up paddleboarding. Push off over the murmuring water and wait for that kingfisher to make an appearance. Moor your boat to make the most of all that space and tranquillity. Then head out to Zoutkamp; the historic fishing village with an interesting fishing museum, various fish restaurants and lovely colourful cottages. Seen it all? Off you go to your next destination: the Nationaal Park Lauwersmeer.

Watersportcentrum Lettelbert

Lettelbert - The Watersportcentrum Lettelbert is the perfect starting point for a wonderful canoe adventure. With routes from 2.5 to 12 kilometres long, you can set out for the Leekstermeer Lake (thirty minutes) or take in the panoramic views in Enumatil. This will also lead you past the Lettelberterdijk, a new water storage area that teems with water birds. Afterwards, enjoy a cup of coffee and some of their homemade cranberry pie.

Afterwards, take a break and get some ice cream to conclude that wonderful summer’s day.

Angling

Westerkwartier - The Westerkwartier is crisscrossed by canals and dotted with ponds, harbours and places to moor your boat. You might already have guessed that it’s the place to be for fishing. With so many options to choose from, we’d better give some ideas for the best spots. These are our favourites: the Van Starkenborgh and Hoendiep canals have high-quality fishing waters, as does the Lettelberterplas Lake. Holders of the VIS-pas – a Dutch angling permit – are permitted to angle in virtually all of the municipal waters.

Reitdiepveer

Aduarderzijl, Schaphalsterzijl - The Reitdiepveer ferry will take you between the mooring places of the ancient Aduarderzijl sluice and Schaphalsterzijl lock in just fifteen minutes. Because the Reitdiep canal functions as the natural division between the Nationaal Landschap Middag-Humsterland and the Hogeland, it was decided to connect these historic scenic areas by ferry. As a result, trails and bicycle routes in the area can be easily combined.
