Discover Zoutkamp
Fishing village with a rich history
In Zoutkamp, you can taste the sea. Stroll through the harbour and past the colourful houses on the Reitdiep, enjoy fresh fish and discover the fishing tradition that makes this fishing village unique.
Harbour full of stories
Thanks to its location on the Reitdiep and the former Lauwerszee, Zoutkamp grew into an important fishing village. After the closure of the Lauwerszee in 1969, part of the fleet moved to Lauwersoog. Yet the port still breathes history and you can feel the maritime atmosphere everywhere. And you can still taste the fish in abundance at the restaurants in the port or at Palingrokerij Postma.
Set sail
What better way to discover Zoutkamp than from the water? Nothing beats a day on the water or even a night on a boat. Both are possible with a camping boat from Bootverhuur Zoutkamp. A little further away? Go sailing and shore fishing with the ZK9 Antonia on the Wadden Sea, the Lauwersmeer and the Reitdiep. Or choose a nice trip with the ZK4 or the ZK31 of the Visserijmuseum.
