Muntendam – Work began in 1982 on the creation of a botanical garden near Muntendam. This botanical garden has since developed into a diverse natural woodland and an artificial landscape featuring wild flowers and plants. Since 2021, you’ve been able to spend the night in this green oasis. You can do so in your own tent, or in one of the luxury safari tents. When you unzip your tent in the morning, nature is already there to greet you.

Hayema Heerd | Dreaming amongst the straw
Oldehove – On the grounds of the Hayema Heerd, there are various ways to spend the night. There’s a standard campsite here, but if you fancy a bit more luxury, you can also spend the night in a real igloo. As snow doesn’t survive Dutch summers, they’re built from straw. They’re fully equipped with all modern conveniences. After a long night’s sleep, you can look out from your little terrace over the endless farmlands of the Westerkwartier.

De Kapschuur | Sleeping in a tepee
Stadskanaal – Doze off in a hiker’s cabin, a ‘barelio’ or at a bed and breakfast. It’s all possible on the grounds of De Kapschuur near Stadskanaal. You can also spend the night in a teepee here.
